DEFINITION
Help

The descriptor formatTracks is simply intended to indicate the number and type of tracks that are found in a media item, whether it is analog or digital. For example, 1 video track, 2 audio tracks, 1 text track, 1 sprite track, etc. Other configuration information specific to these identified tracks should be described using formatChannelConfiguration.

FOR USAGE

Use free-form text entry to identify the number and type of information tracks in an analog or digital media item with formatTracks. This descriptor is simply intended to flag what tracks are present and how many. Whether digital or analog in nature, a media item can have many different types of tracks, including timecode tracks, video tracks, audio tracks, sprite tracks, text tracks, etc. Each form of new media is likely to have different types of tracks available to contain the content or information of a media item.

Other configuration information specific to these identified tracks should be described using formatChannelConfiguration.
