When entering date and time data, care should be taken to provide consistent information that can be interpreted by users. Temporal coverage carries within it the concept of physical temporal boundaries and should provide additional information to identify the date/time period of the intellectual content of the resource if needed.
If a date is approximate, add a question mark
but separate the date from the question mark by a space so that
the question mark is not interpreted as part of the date value
by a search engine.
This element should be used in order to support
more precise searching than provided by the elements SUBJECT,
TITLE, or DESCRIPTION. If temporal coverage
is sufficiently indicated in the SUBJECT, TITLE, or DESCRIPTION
elements, then use of the COVERAGE.TEMPORAL element is not
necessary.
PBCore does NOT recommend the use of specific
date/time encoding rules as established by the ISO 8601 profile
(http://www.w3.org/TR/NOTE-datetime). |
