Preserving Digital Public Television (PDPTV) is a project funded by the larger Library of Congress National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIP). The Preservation project is chartered to identify the technical standards, content selection criteria, and operating structures necessary to develop a national strategy for the collection, archiving and preservation of the burgeoning amounts of digital content, especially materials that are created only in digital formats, for current and future generations. The PDPTV project is managed by WNET, partnering with the Library of Congress, WGBH, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), and New York University (NYU).
1. EQUIVALENT MAPPINGS PBCore/PBS PODS/WNET IN MAGIC/WGBH TEAMS
In their documentation, the NDIIPP-PDPTV Project has generated a preliminary equivalent mapping from PBCore to several metadata dictionaries and schemas employed by project participants, i.e., PBS PODS (Program Offer Data Service), WNET IN MAGIC, and the WGBH TEAMS (DAM system). The target systems in general have many other metadata elements, which could be categorized into PBCore Extensions, if needed. The NDIIPP-PDPTV Project has generously agreed to share this mapping document with the PBCore website. These are internal working documents to assist NDIIPP-PDPTV in evaluating and documenting its own implementation of PBCore. The links to download both PDF and Microsoft Excel (zipped) versions of the mappings are below.

2. PBCore v1.0/Dublin Core/WGBH TEAMS/WGBH MARS WITH SAMPLE DATA
As part of their total documentation and research, NDIIPP-PDPTV also created a mapping between PBCore v1.0, Dublin Core, the Digital Asset Management System in operation at WGBH (called TEAMS), and another WGBH database that tracks physical assets (MARS). A sample record from the series "Press and the People" for the episode "The Responsibilities of Television, Part 1" is included to show actual values and terms entered for both the WGBH TEAMS and MARS databases.

3. PBCore/PBS PODS/WNET IN MAGIC WITH SAMPLE DATA FROM THE SERIES NATURE
As part of their total documentation and research, NDIIPP-PDPTV has created a mapping between PBCore, the PBS PODS Program Offer Data Service, and WNET's IN MAGIC cataloging system. A sample metadata record from a "Nature" episode, "Violent Hawaii," is used to document the pairings. The NDIIPP-PDPTV Project has generously agreed to share this mapping document with the PBCore website. These are internal working documents to assist NDIIPP-PDPTV in evaluating and documenting its own implementation of PBCore.
